A-Channel: Station of Broken Promises
Striking A-Channel workers appeal to viewers
Striking A-Channel employees will continue their appeal to the station’s viewers with a new campaign this Thursday. C.E.P. Local 1900 members will launch a $50,000 dollar multi-media advertising campaign. This is the same day the station goes into its fall ratings period. Viewers are key to A-Channel’s success as a station, they’re also key to employees having their voices heard. Newspaper, radio and television ads will ask viewers to change the channel until management listens to its workers, until it lives up to its promises.
Six years ago, station employees made it possible for Craig Media to launch A-Channel Edmonton. At the time they took lower wages in return for a promise, that once A-Channel became successful, so would the workers. Today, those people remain, by far, the lowest paid in the industry. This strike is about more than just money, its about keeping promises.
Joins C.E.P. Local 1900 for the launch of the new campaign, Thursday, October 16th, 2003 at 11 a.m. The press conference will be held at union headquarters, 10329 103 Ave. Press kits and refreshments will be available.
